Online Safety for Parents

At Weare Academy, online safety goes hand-in-hand with our commitment to safeguarding, please visit our safeguarding page.

We are committed to educating your children about the risks of going online and what your children can do to protect themselves.

We have an Online Safety Lead, Online Safety Committee and four members of staff who are Designated Safeguarding Lead trained. Each year, we complete the 360 Degree Safe online review tool which checks 29 aspects of our online safety curriculum, procedures and infrastructure,

After achieving the first level of award, ‘Commitment to Safety Online’, we have also achieved one of the highest levels of accreditation, ‘Progression to Online Safety’.

As part of this commitment, we have worked towards a ‘gold standard’ e-safety accreditation through the ‘360 degree E-Safety’ scheme.

Online safety educational programme

The children have a very good understanding of online safety and what to do if they feel uncertain when using different technologies. We use Somerset’s ActiveBytes online safety curriculum at the start of each half term, from Reception to Year 4, in conjunction with our Jigsaw PSHE curriculum and whole school Christian values.
